Bihar’s Shubham Kumar Tops JEE Advanced 2026, Arohi Deshpande Emerges Female Topper

New Delhi: The results of JEE Advanced 2026 have been declared, and Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone has emerged as the All India Rank (AIR) 1 holder, securing an impressive 330 out of 360 marks. Among female candidates, Arohi Deshpande has been named the highest-ranked student this year.

The results were announced by IIT Roorkee, which conducted this year’s examination. Along with Shubham’s top rank, students from the IIT Delhi zone dominated the merit list, with Kabir Chhillar and Jatain Chahar securing the second and third positions respectively.

Originally from Bihar’s Gaya district, Shubham’s achievement has drawn attention not only because of his score but also because of the disciplined approach he followed during preparation. According to reports, he stayed away from social media, focused on regular practice, and relied heavily on guidance from his teachers. He spent the last two years preparing in Kota and has expressed his desire to study Computer Science at IIT Bombay.

This year, 1,87,389 students registered for JEE Advanced, while 1,79,694 candidates appeared for both papers conducted on May 17. Out of them, 56,880 candidates qualified the examination, including over 10,107 female students.

JEE Advanced remains one of India’s toughest engineering entrance exams and serves as the gateway to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Qualified candidates will now move to the counselling process conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for admissions into IITs and other participating institutions.

For thousands of aspirants across the country, the results mark the end of a long and demanding journey—and the beginning of a new chapter in their academic careers.
