In a shocking incident, over 300 cow carcasses were discovered scattered at a municipal garbage dumping site located around 7 km from Jaisalmer district headquarters in Rajasthan.

The gruesome discovery has triggered widespread outrage after videos and photos from the site went viral on social media.

The carcasses were found dumped openly at the municipal yard, raising serious questions about the mismanagement of dead animal disposal in the region.

Local residents and animal lovers expressed anger over the alleged negligence by the contractor responsible for carcass collection and disposal. Officials admitted that the incident points to major lapses in following proper waste management and carcass disposal protocols.

Following the public outcry, the district administration has ordered a detailed factual inquiry into the matter. The Jaisalmer Municipal Council has also issued a formal notice to the concerned contractor, seeking an explanation and warning of strict action if any violation of guidelines is found.

Meanwhile, teams have been deployed to remove the carcasses and ensure proper disposal. The probe will examine whether designated disposal pits were used and if the contractor followed the terms of the municipal agreement.

This incident has once again highlighted the long-standing issue of stray cattle management and inadequate carcass disposal infrastructure across many parts of Rajasthan. Similar cases have been reported in the past in several districts.

Authorities have assured that a detailed report will be submitted soon, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

The case has drawn attention from animal rights groups, who are demanding better systems for handling stray cattle and scientific carcass disposal across the state.
